Ramadaniyat 23: The stomach Is the House of Disease – Hummus and Mango a Light and Nutritious Salad

The Prophet (peace be upon him) choose to refrain from eating too much food in many hadiths.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “A believer eats in one intestine (is satisfied with a little food), and a kafir (unbeliever) eats in seven intestines (eats much food).” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari).

The meaning of this hadith is that the believer mentions Allah’s name when he eats, so the Shaytan does not share the food with him. While the kafir (unbeliever) does not mention Allah’s name, so the Shaytaan shares with him his food.

A person must be disciplined in his food and drink especially during the holy month of Ramadan. It is a month of fasting and worship, not a month of food. The believer has to reduce the amount of food he eats to be able to engage in worship. Eating is to fill hunger and help you in worshiping Allah. An abdominal lust is one of the greatest causes of death and the cause of many diseases.

Muslim scholars have said: “The stomach is the House of disease, and diet is the head of healing.”
