Ramadaniyat 30: How to Avoid Stomach Problems in Eid Al Fitr

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Every nation has a festival, and this is our festival.” (Al Bukhari)

Tomorrow is Eid (festival) al-Fitr. May Allah bring you joy, happiness, peace, and prosperity on this blessed occasion.

Some of the Eid features wearing the new, and then eat some dates or Eid cookies stuffed with dates, and then go to pray. Then come back to the house to rejoice with parents and relatives, and also visit and invite friends and neighbors.

We usually express our happiness with food, especially after fasting for a month.

The followings are easy tips to avoid some stomach problems during Eid festivities:

  • Prepare a personal dish that is suitable for you when you are invited to attend family and social gatherings because you may not notice when you eat from the main dishes to the amounts of food you have eaten.

  • Try to stay away from foods high in carbohydrates. Also, keep away from fried foods and saturated fats because they cause indigestion and weight gain.

  • Eat more salads, vegetables, and fruits because they contain fiber and help digestion and keep the digestive system healthy.

  • Do not overeat; try to eat during day time and avoid eating at night.

  • Stay away from very salty foods because they make the body retain a large amount of water and cause high blood pressure.

  • Do not drink soft drinks and sweetened juices as they raise the level of sugar in the blood and also make you gain weight.

  • Drink enough water; it aids in digestion.

  • Try to find time to exercise as much as possible, such as going out for a walk.

  • And of course, remember not to consume large amounts of sweets on Eid.
