Yes, lamb meat is tender, distinctive, very tasty, and easy to cook. It is the most consumed red meat.  But did you know that lamb meat is one of the most nutritious red meats! Lamb meat is the meat of a sheep in its first year. That’s when the sheep is between 1 and 12 months old.


Contains High-Quality Protein

Lamb meat contains high-quality protein, but it contains low amounts of fat. That depends on the lamb’s cut, diet, age, and gender. The lamb meat that has the best nutrients is the one that is pasture raised and naturally grass- feed; was not given any antibiotics or hormones.

Rich in Many Healthy Fats

Lamb is a nutrient-dense food. Half the fat in the lamb is the good unsaturated fats. Lamb contains good unsaturated fats more than other red meats.  The meat is rich in many healthy fats, including Omega-3, high-quality proteins, and many vitamins and minerals.

Lamb contains ruminant trans fat, but ruminant trans are beneficial to health, unlike trans fat from processed food products. It also contains the highest amounts of conjugated linoleic acid than other ruminant red meat.

The information above is true for grass-fed lamb meat that was not given antibiotics or hormones, and is eaten in moderation. Lamb meat if fried or hydrogenated fats were used while cooking, it might lose its benefits. It is recommended to grill or boil the meat to make your favorite dish. It is preferred to eat lamb with vegetable dishes than with a high carbohydrate meal.
