Ramadaniyat 24: Do Not Let Satiety Deprive You of the Act of Worship – A Refreshing Lemon Juice Mint Recipe

Scholars have cited many benefits of moderation in food and not to be wasteful. They said: The satiety causes apathy and blinds the heart, and a wise person one who does not eat much but thinks clearly and stays alert.

Overeating leads to dull thinking, and a tendency to sleep. “My son, if the stomach is full, the idea is dormant, the wisdom is lost, and the body is unable to worship,” said Lukman the wise.

The believer must take care of his body, without harming it by depriving his body from food or by overeating. And satiety makes the body heavy and lazy, which makes us ignore work and worship, especially during the month of worship. It is better for the fasting person to eat what is enough to remain healthy and active for worship. Excessive eating leads to laziness and sluggishness and pushes the person to sleep after Iftar, which prevents him from praying ‘Isha’ and Taraweeh.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disability, from laziness…” (Narrated by Abu Dawood)

Laziness is being unwilling to do the work while having the ability to work. Laziness not only harms the person himself but harms the society because the person fails to fulfill his duty in society.
